That was another book I „finally“ read. With so many old classics and modern classics and such a long time of not reading in my life, I have just too many books I „always“ wanted to read. 😉 But what can I say about such a popular book, that wasn‘t said already? It was simply amazing and fantastic. 😍👍🏻 The beautiful, southern atmosphere with some great people who see what is right and some arrogant, backwards-minded people who don‘t seem to know justice. A masterpiece! 🏆
„’Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit ’em, but remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.’ „Atticus Finch gives this advice to his children as he defends the real mockingbird of this classic novel – a black man charged with attacking a white girl. Through the eyes of Scout and Jem Finch, Lee explores the issues of race and class in the Deep South of the 1930s with compassion and humour. She also creates one of the great heroes of literature in their father, whose lone struggle for justice pricks the conscience of a town steeped in prejudice and hypocrisy.“

For me as a non-native speaker it is absolutely beautiful to read a novel with that southern charm. 😍 That is what puts me into the story right away. It is beautifully written from the perspective of a 9 year old girl and she sometimes seems to be 9 indeed but sometimes she seems rather 40. The story is heartbreaking, relatable, thrilling and really fantastic and it reminds you (in a rather tough way), that we still have a lot of work to do as a society. I can only recommend you reading this book, it is well worth the time. 😁👍🏻
