This short story is part of the „Into Shadows“ collection and was my third read from the series.

The atmosphere and setting were wonderful, and I enjoyed the characters enough to care about them. Unfortunately, the story itself didn’t quite work for me. The plot felt slow, sometimes even absent, and there were moments when I wasn’t sure what was happening. The ending offered a small silver lining, but overall it wasn’t enough to redeem the story.

I think the premise could shine in a full-length novel, but as a short story it fell flat. I can’t really recommend this one.
