This was another book recommended by my girlfriend. Since I am not a romance reader at all, this was one of my first romance novels. To my own surprise, it turned out to be a lot of fun, and that was exactly what I liked most about it. The book is genuinely funny, and I laughed a lot while reading, which made it very easy for me to connect with the characters.
„Molly and Andrew are friends just trying to get home from Chicago to Dublin for the holidays, when a freak snowstorm grounds their flight. Molly’s never cared about Christmas. Andrew is a full-on fanatic for the festive season. So, she vows to get him home. And in time for his mam’s famous Christmas dinner. The clock is ticking. But Molly always has a plan. And-as long as the highly-specific combination of taxis, planes, boats, and trains all run on time-it can’t possibly go wrong. What she doesn’t know is that, as the snow falls over the city and over the heads of two friends who are sure they’re not meant to be together, the universe might just have a plan of its own.“

The writing is good and very easy to read. I also really liked the pacing. It never became boring, but it also never felt rushed. The story is straightforward and easy to follow, with only a few minor moments where I briefly wondered whether things would really work out that way. Nothing serious enough to break the experience, though.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book and always liked picking it up. I finished it within two or three days at most. I especially loved the family dynamics, and at some point I even found myself wishing I had such a warm and lovely family myself.
I did expect some kind of obstacle for the main characters along the way, and when there were only about 10 or 20 percent left, I briefly thought I might be wrong. But I was not. There was a small twist, but it really was very small, which allowed me to stay comfortably inside my feel-good bubble until the end.
For me, as an inexperienced romance reader, this was an easy five-star read, and I can absolutely see myself rereading it someday.
