Falling Bodies

This is the 4th book in the „Far Reaches“-Collection. It was ok, not more and not less… The ending was the part that lifted it to a 3 Star book…

„Light-years from home, it’s Ira’s second chance. Just another anonymous student at a space station university. Not the orphan whose Earther heritage was erased. Not some social experiment put on display by his adoptive father. Not the criminal recruited by the human rebels. But when Ira’s loyalties clash once again, two wars break out: one on the ground and one within himself. Which will Ira stand with? Which will take him down?“

The premise sounded great. A sci-fi setting with a conflicted protagonist and a war looming on the horizon… but that wasn‘t it! The writing was very easy to read but that was more or less all. The protagonist was a young man with a great victim mentality. He has a hard life because some rich politician adopted him and gave him all the chances. 🙄 It was not really an original story and so it dragged on (yes, a short story can drag as well… 😉) and it ended at least with a great finale, which was a surprise for me and which was the only saving grace. This one wasn‘t for me, so maybe skip this and look for other amazing stories. 🙁👎🏻
