I‘ve heard so much about it so I had to read it! 🙂 I actually read the Kindle Edition and also listened to the Audible audio book.
“Ichabod Crane, a schoolteacher, came to Tarry Town in the glen of Sleepy Hollow to ply his trade in educating young minds. He was a gullible and excitable fellow, often so terrified by locals’ stories of ghosts that he would hurry through the woods on his way home, singing to keep from hysterics. Until late one night, he finds that maybe they’re not just stories. What is that dark, menacing figure riding behind him on a horse? And what does it have in its hands? And why wasn’t schoolteacher Crane ever seen in Sleepy Hollow again?”

I have to say for more than the first half of it, I was kind of disappointed. It was very slow, not much happened and the description of the surroundings was (at least for me) a bit too much. The language is fantastic, amazing and everything you can think of. But still, with not much happening, it gets very long and slow…
Update 2023:
While reading it again after a year I could enjoy the descriptions much more and was able to feel the whole atmosphere. Everything is very dark, heavy with fear and superstition and very much like you would imagine a horrific autumn evening/night. The first time around I wasn‘t able to „see“ the village and the people but now I could! 😍💀👻
Along came the last 10 Minutes of the audio book and honestly these 10 Minutes or maybe the last 20% of the book were absolutely amazing, fantastic, WOW!!! I had goose bumps and it was the real classic horror that I had hoped for the whole time… atmospheric, scary, suspensful, thrilling! I think I don‘t have to mention the horror movie that went off in my head… 😱
Although it was a very short story I found it sad that the real good part was even shorter. But in the end I can recommend the book to all horror-fans especially during Fall- and Halloween-Season! 👻🎃💀
