I got this wonderful book from my girlfriend (@what.thea.reads) and since I also want to watch the movie I wanted to read it as soon as possible and I’m glad I did. 😁 I didn’t know anything about it and just started. It was really sweet and magical and I guess it was perfect since I took a deep dive into Stephen King in the last months. 😉 Of course you notice quite quickly that the target audience are not 40yo men but I still had a blast with it. Especially since the audiobook had some special effects and sounds built-in which was amazing. 😁👍🏻
„Can a robot survive in the wilderness? When robot Roz opens her eyes for the first time, she discovers that she is all alone on a remote, wild island. She has no idea how she got there or what her purpose is – but she knows she needs to survive. After battling a violent storm and escaping a vicious bear attack, she realizes that her only hope for survival is to adapt to her surroundings and learn from the island’s unwelcoming animal inhabitants. As Roz slowly befriends the animals, the island starts to feel like home–until, one day, the robot’s mysterious past comes back to haunt her.“

This is a middle-grade novel, so obviously the writing is quite easy to read and very fluent. But the topics that where handled (guilt, loneliness, friendship and much more) were anything but easy. There were many amazing action-scenes with lots of suspense as well, so it was never dull or boring. And I cared for all the characters in the end, even the ones that weren’t always nice.
I flew through that book and it made so much fun, that at the end I was very surprised that there was actually kind of a cliffhanger to the second book. So maybe prepare yourself to get the whole series up-front, so that you can binge through them! 😁👍🏻 Meanwhile, you can find me reading/listening the second book… 👋🏻
