This book was recommend by Nick Parry from Books Are Sick and I haven‘t regretted my decision to follow him blindly! 😉 This book was amazing. I didn‘t know too much about it beforehand and it was worth the surprise. It really captured me and nailed me to the book. At first I only listened to the audiobook with the Kindle, but then I found so many great passages that I wanted to underline and mark, that I had to get the paperback as well! 😬
„In upstate New York, within the woods, Dutchman’s Creek flows out of the Ashokan Reservoir. Steep-banked and fast-moving, it offers the promise of fine fishing, and of something more, a possibility too fantastic to be true. When Abe and Dan, two widowers who have found solace in each other’s company and a shared passion for fishing, hear rumours of the Creek and what might be found there, the remedy to both their losses, they dismiss them. Soon, though, the men find themselves drawn into a tale as deep and old as the Reservoir. It’s a tale of dark pacts, of long-buried secrets, and of a mysterious figure known as the Fisherman. It will bring Abe and Dan face to face with all that they have lost, and with the price they must pay to regain it.“

The writing style was very pleasant to read and listen and at some pounts there were so many fanatstic sentences and metaphors. Some made me think, some made me sad and some made me chuckle, like this one:
„Heaven doesn’t want me, and hell’s afraid I’ll take over.“ 😂
The Fisherman by John Langan
But all in all there were really great scenes within the book. Many quite sad but still beautiful and some scenes were really gruesome and creepy. So it had all a horror novel needs in my opinion and a little more. I actually liked the story about Rainer and his family a bit more than the part in the present. But as I said the book had it all (at least for me): Full of suspense, horror and some sadness as well as some very sweet moments. 🙂 And what I liked as well is that the book was interesting! I don‘t know how to phrase it differently… I was simply interested where the story will go and that‘s what kept me reading, whenever I could! 😁👍🏻 Recommendation to all my bookish friends out there! 😉
